The Sandwich App is a free app for discovering sandwiches. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We do not sell your personal information, and we don't use it for cross-app tracking or advertising.
1. Information we collect
- Account info — your name and email address when you create an account (or sign in with Apple).
- Content you create — messages you send to the AI concierge, photos you share with it, and reviews you post to the community map.
- Precise location — if you grant permission, your precise location is used to find nearby places, factor local weather into recommendations, and pin a review you choose to post. You can deny or revoke this anytime.
- Basic technical data — standard information needed to operate the service reliably and securely.
2. How we use it
- To provide the app's features — recommendations, the map, saved items, and the concierge.
- To generate AI responses to your messages and photos.
- To keep your account secure and respond to support requests.
3. Third-party services
To make the app work, some data is shared with service providers who process it on our behalf:
- Anthropic — your concierge messages and any photos you send are processed by Anthropic's Claude AI to generate replies.
- Google — place searches and your precise location are used to find nearby places for the map.
- Open-Meteo — your precise location is used to look up local weather to factor into recommendations.
- YouTube — used to play a sandwich's playlist when you choose to (video lookups only; no account or personal data is shared).
- fal.ai — used to generate the stylized illustrations of sandwiches in our catalog. No personal information or user-submitted photos are sent.
- Instacart — if you choose to shop for a sandwich's ingredients, the ingredient list is sent to Instacart to build your cart.
These providers handle data under their own privacy policies. We don't share your information with third parties for their own marketing.
4. Data security & retention
We take reasonable measures to protect your information. Your sign-in credentials are hashed, and the app stores your session token securely on your device. We keep your data while your account is active.
5. Your choices & deletion
You can use most of the app without an account. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time in the app (Profile → Delete account); this permanently removes your saved items, reviews, and concierge chats. You can also email us to request access to or deletion of your information.
6. Children
The Sandwich App is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information.
