Club Sandwich

History

The club took its triple-decker shape in late-1800s America. The tidiest origin story credits the clubhouse of Saratoga Springs' Canfield Casino around 1894, though gentlemen's clubs and double-decker railroad club cars both stake a claim. Two layers of toast around turkey, bacon, lettuce, and tomato — quartered and speared with toothpicks so the upright stack survives the trip from kitchen to card table.

• Roast turkey
• Bacon

• Mayonnaise

How to Make

1. 1Toast three slices of white bread.
2. 2Spread mayonnaise on the toast.
3. 3Layer roast turkey and lettuce on the first slice.
