A Chicago institution since the 1930s, the Italian beef piles thin-sliced, slow-roasted seasoned beef on a long roll, topped with spicy giardiniera or sweet peppers — and often dunked ('dipped') in the seasoned cooking jus until the bread is soaked through.

How to Make
