The PB&J rose to fame in early-20th-century America and became iconic during WWII, when both peanut butter and jelly appeared on US military ration lists and soldiers combined them on bread. Cheap, sweet and beloved, it's the quintessential American lunchbox sandwich.
Ingredients
- Soft white sliced bread
- Peanut butter
- Grape or strawberry jelly
How to Make
- 1Spread peanut butter evenly on one slice of bread.
- 2Spread jelly on the other slice.
- 3Press the two together.
- 4Trim the crusts if you like and cut into halves or triangles.
- 5Serve with a cold glass of milk.
