Kelly's Roast Beef

History

Kelly's opened in 1951 as a roadside hot dog stand on Revere Beach, just north of Boston. As the story goes, a rainy holiday left them with unsold roast beef, which they sliced thin and served on rolls — and the roast beef sandwich took off to become a North Shore signature. Still wildly popular, Kelly's draws lines down the boardwalk for its roast beef, fried clams, and lobster rolls.
