Manny's Cafeteria & Delicatessen

History

Manny's was founded in 1942 by Jack Raskin and has been run by four generations of the same family on Chicago's Near West Side, today led by Dan Raskin. A cafeteria-style deli rooted in the old Maxwell Street tradition, it grew into a true city institution — a required campaign stop for Chicago and national politicians and a daily haunt for working folks. More than 80 years on, it still cures and hand-carves its own corned beef and brisket the same way it always has.
