Ricobene's
Chicago, IL · ricobenespizza.com
Old-school pizza parlor serving a famous breaded steak sandwich alongside pizza & Italian standards.
History
Ricobene's started in 1946 as a small Italian spot on Chicago's South Side and grew into a local institution on the strength of one sandwich: the breaded steak. A thin cut of steak, breaded and fried, drenched in marinara and topped with mozzarella and sweet or hot peppers on Italian bread — a Chicago original that's spawned imitators all over the city. The family's 26th Street original remains the flagship.
