Versailles Restaurant
Miami, FL · versaillesrestaurant.com
Iconic Cuban restaurant serving traditional fare in a roomy, vintage dining room with chandeliers.
History
Versailles opened in 1971 on Calle Ocho and grew into the unofficial town square of Miami's Cuban community — where political news breaks, campaigns stump, and big wins are celebrated at the walk-up window. Named (with a wink) for the French palace, it pairs an ornate dining room with a bakery and ventanita, and has served generations the medianoche: the 'midnight' sandwich, traditionally eaten after a night out, on a softer, sweeter roll than the classic Cuban.
