Sarcone's Deli

History

The Sarcone family has baked bread in South Philadelphia's Italian Market since 1918, and the deli built atop that bread turned the family loaf into one of the city's defining hoagies. The seeded Sarcone's roll — crackly crust, soft inside — is so prized that other shops buy it, but the deli's own hoagies, stacked on bread baked steps away, are the benchmark.
